Café du Suro (Downtown Ventura)

The screen on the parking meter was blank when I turned to look at it. Had my credit card payment processed? I trusted it did. These are moments a traveler mulls over when a new process is still foreign to them.

What makes you decide to hang out at a café? Do you come to drink and eat? Are cafes the perfect spots for you to read or write? Maybe it is an ideal place to catch up with a friend?

Café du Suro

I slung my white tote bag over my left shoulder and began walking to Café du Suro on Main Street, a quaint café and bakery with a Parisian theme. It was clean and quiet as I started scanning the Kilogram Tea, Boba, Sandwiches, Artisan Pizza and Soup of the Day menus. Classical music played in the background as I decided on a “Starbucks” type Caramel Cappuccino, slightly embarrassed.

As I sipped on my Americanized Cappuccino, minus the Starbucks sweetness, it was just right. The youngsters two tables away from me started to banter loudly. The girl had quite a potty mouth. I wasn’t expecting this, but it somehow didn’t clash with the beautiful piano music continuing to play in the background.

More Café Goers

The skateboarder kid on my left has now left the café. Three older ladies walk in chuckling amongst themselves. Looking like they’re enjoying a fun beach day, I notice them sporting fancy beach hats and flowing dresses with polka dots and floral patterns. As they speak in Spanish, one of them kindly says thank you to the barista for the restroom key.

Mission Accomplished!

Café du Suro, you are a lovely and serene location. I am glad I’ve stumbled upon you to attempt my very first WordPress post. For whatever reason you’ve found yourself in a coffee shop, I wish you success in your venture! Now, time for some artisan pizza.
