Harvest Café (Downtown Ventura)

Do you find the number of places to eat for vegetarians is limited?

I do, and I’m not even a vegetarian. Even in metropolitan cities, you feel like you’ll find all the options you look for, but vegetarian eateries are still hard to come by.

I’m always hoping new places will pop up where I can grab a fresh salad with delicious veggies and a light balsamic vinegarette on the side. A fresh slice of baked sourdough would be perfect to go with it! It seems like a reasonable request!

Vegetarian Café

As I searched for my next destination, I was surprised to finally find a cafe described as a vegetarian restaurant. Tucked away on a quiet street around the west side of downtown Ventura, Harvest Café is an open aired rustic restaurant that draws energetic visitors and locals.

My first thought was that the food was high quality and fresh, but disgusting.  I was wrong.

Quality Choices

Don’t let the simple categories fool you on their menu.  Not only did they have Coffee, Smoothies/Bowls, and Food but they had an abundance of mouth-watering choices that left me wanting to order more.

Coffee

Under Coffee, they had your standard drip coffee, latte and tea choices with ice water available for customers.  Since I already had my morning coffee, I went for the free option and enjoyed their unlimited lemon iced water.

Smoothies/Bowls

The Smoothies/Bowls category had delicious sounding and delicious looking acai bowl concoctions.  These included the option for greens, various fruit, and either coconut water, cashew milk, cinnamon nut milk or date nut milk.  These bowls looked even more appetizing than their photos online.

Food

Although the menu isn’t incredibly extensive, the variety is incredible.  The food menu includes vegan buckwheat or banana oat waffle, Mexi-Cali breakfast bowl, porridge, nut butter toast, probiotic bowl, soup of the day and salad of the day.

Ambiance

Harvest Café has a lively kitchen, ample seating and a steady influx of hungry customers.  While I love the perfect morning buzz, the cafe became boisterous during lunchtime. I highly recommend a visit to the Harvest Cafe. There is something here for everyone.
